19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to secure a title is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on court had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet rescued four early chances in a competitive third set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
